A public URL is not a media license
YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and other public pages make content viewable under platform rules. That visibility does not automatically grant permission to download the file, create a derivative work, or use it in an advertisement.
ClipRecast therefore saves social links only as inspiration. To produce a video, upload the original file or another authorized copy and confirm the rights basis.
Separate copyright from likeness permission
Owning a video file does not necessarily give you permission to replace or commercially use the identity of every person shown. Copyright, performer releases, privacy, publicity rights, and client agreements can be separate questions.
Use fictional characters, your own likeness, commissioned talent with an appropriate release, or another subject whose use is clearly authorized.
Keep evidence that another reviewer can understand
For licensed sources, save the license URL, contract, invoice, or written permission. For public-domain material, save the institution page or record that identifies the work and its status.
A useful evidence record says who granted what permission, for which asset, for which uses, and for how long. A screenshot with no source URL is weaker than a stable record.
Block high-risk identity uses before accepting the order
Political impersonation, deceptive public-figure use, minors, non-consensual intimate content, fraud, harassment, and attempts to evade platform enforcement should be blocked before production. A warning after work begins is too late for both safety and cost.
The order flow must collect rights confirmation, identify the type of person shown, preserve an audit record, and stop disallowed work before charging credits.
Publishing remains the creator’s responsibility
A video service may allow commercial use of the delivered file while still making no promise that your source, likeness, music, brand, or final edit is cleared. Delivery terms and content clearance are not the same thing.
Before publishing, review the output, preserve required attribution, follow the source license, and consider legal advice for high-value campaigns or uncertain rights.
